A sick leave pool is established to alleviate hardship caused to an employee and the employee's immediate family if a catastrophic injury or illness forces the employee to exhaust all accrued paid leave time earned by that employee and to lose compensation time from the state.
(1) The director of human resources is designated as the pool administrator.
(2) The pool administrator, with the advice and consent of the director of the state administration, will establish operating procedures consistent with the requirements of this section and relevant law governing operation of the pool.
(3) Donations to the pool are strictly voluntary.
