(a) The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) adopts a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). The MOU establishes the responsibilities between the two agencies in developing a basic training program in the use of firearms by community supervision officers and parole officers. Section 163.34 of this title (relating to the Carrying of Weapons) governs the use of firearms for community supervision officers.
(b) The MOU is required by Texas Occupations Code §1701.257.
