(a) Definitions.
(1) Whenever the terms human "body" or "bodies" or "parts of human body" or "parts of human bodies" are used in Chapters 477 - 485, the terms include anatomical specimens, defined as parts of a human corpse in §691.001 of the Health and Safety Code.
(2) Whenever the term "search organization" is used in Chapters 477 - 485, the term includes search and rescue organizations and recovery teams that use human remains detection canines as described in §691.030(a)(3) of the Health and Safety Code.
(b) Jurisdiction:
(1) Anatomical Donations. The board exercises jurisdiction over bodies willed or donated to the board, medical, dental or chiropractic schools, or other donees authorized by the board under Health and Safety Code, Chapters 691 and 692A. The board also exercises jurisdiction over individuals, corporations, associations, institutions, research organizations, or other legal entities authorized to receive whole bodies under Chapters 691 and 692A.
(2) The board lacks jurisdiction over:
(A) parts of human bodies used for transplantation or other medical therapy;
(B) skeletal material or other prepared specimens obtained from commercial sources; and
(C) individuals in possession of parts or skeletal material or specimens described in subparagraphs (A) and (B) of this paragraph.
