If an appellant's attorney wishes to have a prehearing conference about the medical information, either the hearing officer or the attorney representing the appellant sends the request to the office of the general counsel. The office of the general counsel sets up an appointment for the prehearing conference to be held in Austin. The appointment is set at a time when the hearing officer can go to Austin to attend the conference. PRS does not pay any expenses of the appellant or the attorney(s) representing him for attending the prehearing conference in Austin. At the prehearing conference, the appellant or attorney may question the medical staff about medical eligibility. The hearing officer records the prehearing conference.
